Almost ten years after Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde rocked the world, Disney is finally returning fans to the animal metropolis of Zootopia in Zootopia 2! The release date has been announced: United States – November 26, 2025; India has a special release date of November 28, 2025 (just in time to make this holiday season a little wilder).

Whether you enjoyed the original’s buddy-cop banter, its courageous social commentary, or the catchy music (you know it, Try Everything sticks with you), the sequel promises the return of everything you’ve come to love—and then some.
Returning to Zootopia: What Will the Plot be This Time?
In Zootopia 2, our favorite interspecies detective duo is off to solve a brand-newand mystery. Judy Hopps is back policing the streets as ever-determined rabbit cop, alongside her sly and charming fox partner Nick Wilde. This time, the pair are headed for the hidden corners of Zootopia’s unexplored districts of swamps, deseran ts, marshlands, and ultimately, they will face off against a villain: Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan will voice the character as he demonstrated in Everything Everywhere All at Once).
As they uncover secrets hidden beneath the fur and feathers of Zootopia’s population, the case may challenge their partnership and belief in ways they didn’t expect.
Meet the Cast: Old Friends & New Faces
The original voice duo of Ginnifer Goodwin (Judy Hopps) and Jason Bateman (Nick Wilde) are back to reprise their roles and bring back the magic of their great relationship and funny dialogue that made the first film work.
Of course, Zootopia 2 isn’t just about returning characters. The sequel comes with a whole slew of new characters:
- Ke Huy Quan as Gary De’Snake, the slimy new villain
- Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby, the oddball quokka therapist
- Fortune Feimster as Nibbles, the no-nonsense beaver with a big heart
- Shakira returns to portray Gazelle, looking bolder than ever and providing an all-new original song that is sure to be the next animated anthem!
There should be more surprise cameo/voice talent announcements to come as the premiere gets closer!
First Look: Teaser Trailer Sneaks a Look at Madness
Disney posted the official teaser trailer on 20th May, 2025 and already fans are unpacking every inch of the teaser. The trailer teases neon marshes, dangerous sandstorms, and an ominous glimpse at Gary De’Snake’s underground network.
The trailer also offers a clip of Judy and Nick in what appears to be an intense courtroom scene, suggesting that this sequel may examine the legal and moral implications of the city they vowed to protect.

Shakira’s Gazelle Returns with New Dance Moves
One of the most memorable aspects of the original Zootopia was Gazelle voiced by music superstar Shakira. She is not only back for the sequel but she’s coming back with an updated wardrobe, new energy, and a brand new song.
Sources say the song is “bigger, bolder, and more empowering” than Try Everything and the sequel will offer Gazelle more of a story in the sequel.
Why the Excitement is Real
Since the first film made over $1 billion globally, the fans have been yearning for a sequel. It seemed like the return to Zootopia is timely, almost 10 years later, particularly with the resurgence of family blockbusters that combine humor, heart and social commentary.
Additionally, with Disney officially expanding the brand with projects like Zootopia+ on Disney+, the opportunity to return theatrically was ripe.
Zootopia 2 has all the makings of the next animated smash hit with an all-star cast, a thrilling new villain, and the same wit and heart as its predecessor. Whether you’re there for the animal antics, the emotional drama, or the music — expect a ride as wild and wonderful as Zootopia itself.
Save the date: November 26 (U.S.) / November 28 (India), 2025. The animal kingdom beckons.
