Since DreamWorks turned the colorful Trolls dolls into a hit movie with 2016’s “Trolls,” the franchise has become a sensation, spawning sequels like “Trolls World Tour” and “Trolls Band Together.” The story follows a group of cheerful trolls who adore singing and dancing, but their joy is threatened when they are kidnapped by grumpy ogres called Bergens. It’s up to two trolls, Poppy (voiced by Anna Kendrick) and Branch (voiced by Justin Timberlake), to save their friends and restore happiness.

The first film was a major success, grossing $347 million at the box office. Its soundtrack also gained immense popularity, particularly the lead single “Can’t Stop The Feeling!” by Justin Timberlake. The song went quadruple platinum in the US, won a Grammy Award, and dominated the airwaves, making “Trolls” a cultural phenomenon.

Trolls (2016)

The first installment of the Trolls series follows Poppy and Branch as they embark on a mission to save their fellow trolls, who have been kidnapped by a Bergen chef with plans to cook them for the other Bergens. Trolls Holiday (2017) (Television Special)

In the next installment, Poppy discovers that the Bergens lack special holidays and decides to introduce them to Troll Holiday to get them into the festive spirit. Trolls World Tour (2020)

“Trolls World Tour” premiered in April 2020, becoming the first major film to be released during the COVID-19 pandemic in the US. In this sequel, viewers discover that the trolls we know are pop trolls, but there are also other troll nations, including hard rock trolls, country trolls, and techno trolls. Chaos erupts during a rave when the Hard Rock Trolls attempt to take over the world. Poppy learns that six magical lyre strings once united these musical tribes. Despite their differences, she is determined to reunite everyone with the help of Branch and the rest of the Snack Pack.

The movie grossed over $100 million within weeks of its release in digital rental sales alone, making it the highest-earning digital release ever. “Trolls World Tour” can be streamed on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube.

Trolls: Holiday In Harmony (2021) (Television Special)

The next installment, “Trolls: Holiday in Harmony,” stuck to its musical roots, featuring several original songs and a rendition of “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” by Stevie Wonder. In this sequel, the Trolls return for a festive village-wide Secret Santa exchange. Poppy is thrilled when she draws Branch’s name, but Branch is less enthusiastic when he learns he has to buy a gift for Poppy. “Trolls: Holiday in Harmony” also expanded its cast, featuring new characters voiced by Kylie Jenner, Carol Burnett, and Travis Scott. Trolls Band Together (2023)

When Poppy learns that Branch was once part of a boy band called BoyZone with his brothers, she eagerly plans a family reunion and starts searching for them.
