After being sworn in as a Union Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government on Sunday, LJP (Ram Vilas) Chief Chirag Paswan pledged to fulfill his responsibilities with honesty and dedication. Paswan also expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for trusting him.
“This is a significant responsibility for me… I will ensure that I fulfill it with complete honesty and hard work… The credit for this goes to the Prime Minister. He placed so much faith in a party with a single MP and allocated 5 seats to it… I have also delivered by winning all 5 seats,” Chirag Paswan was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.
“In the past 10 years, the government has prioritized schemes focused on the welfare of the poor. We will continue with this approach to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, as well as between villages and towns,” he added.
Chirag Paswan achieved a resounding victory in Bihar’s Hajipur Lok Sabha seat, defeating RJD’s Shiv Chandra Ram by over 1.70 lakh votes. This impressive win solidified his position and demonstrated his strong support base in the region.
In addition to Chirag Paswan’s induction, Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought seven MPs from Bihar into his council of ministers. Four of these new ministers are from allied parties, highlighting the BJP’s strategic move to address the caste dynamics in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections next year.
Chirag Paswan expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for entrusting him with this significant role. He acknowledged the Prime Minister’s faith in his leadership and the party, emphasizing the responsibility that comes with the position. Paswan has committed to fulfilling his duties with the utmost honesty and dedication, aligning with the government’s focus on the welfare of the poor over the past decade.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to reducing the disparity between the rich and the poor, and between rural and urban areas. Paswan’s victory and his subsequent role in the Union government reflect a broader strategy by the BJP to ensure balanced representation and address socio-economic divides.
This strategic inclusion of MPs from Bihar, particularly from allied parties, is seen as a calculated effort to balance the caste equation in the state. This move is crucial as Bihar gears up for assembly elections next year, where caste dynamics often play a pivotal role in electoral outcomes. By bringing in a diverse group of ministers, the BJP aims to strengthen its position and appeal to a broader electorate in the region.
