During the day, Prime Minister Modi welcomed Brazil’s efforts to create the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, underscoring the very serious impact of the ongoing crises on the Global South. In recalling that food, fuel, and fertilizer shortages due to global conflicts hit developing nations especially hard, he said:.
Modi emphasized taking these issues to the global forefront. He observed that, “We applaud Brazil’s move for a ‘Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.’ It is a step in the right direction for the implementation of the Deccan High-Level Principles for Food Security adopted at the New Delhi Summit.”

He also pointed out India’s initiatives to enlarge the voice of the Global South, such as giving permanent G20 membership to the African Union during the New Delhi Summit. “We will continue to reform global governance institutions to ensure they reflect the realities and aspirations of today’s world,” he added.
